Daily Schedule

 Our 2-1/2 year old children are typically experiencing their first exposure to a structured school setting. Emphasis is placed on establishing good social interaction skills, along with elements that provide development in the following areas:

Self-help skills

Fine motor skills

Gross motor skills

Cognitive skills

Expressive language

Receptive language

The daily schedule might include 1) Free play, 2) Circle time, 3) Craft or Unit activities, 4) Upstairs playroom activities, 5) Rest time – listen to music, 6) Snack time, 7) Show and Tell, 8) Movement activity – to music or as exercise, 9) Story time, 10) Good-bye song

Units covered during the year include:

Socialization activities

Coping with separation, adjusting to school, and interacting with new friends

Small motor or coordination activities

Learning to color, glue, draw, and paint

Unit of self

Focusing on senses, name recognition, self-esteem

Unit on shapes

Recognizing the circle, square, triangle and rectangle

Unit on colors

Learning crayon colors and white

Unit on numbers

Learning 1 through 5

Unit on seasons

Sharing seasonal activities

Holiday Activities

Working on art projects around the various holidays

 

Our 3 year old curriculum is designed to introduce our students to the skills and concepts needed to mature both socially and academically. The Units covered during the school year include activities that provide development in the following areas:

Science Awareness

 Our 4 year old curriculum has been designed to prepare our students emotionally, academically and socially for Kindergarten. The units covered during the school year include activities that provide development in the following areas:

Cognitive Pre-reading skills

Pre-writing skills

Science awareness

Unit on “ME”; number recognition using classroom calendar; days of week & months of year

October

Unit on Fall; unit on senses; community helpers; Columbus Day & Halloween activities; expanded number recognition; review of shapes

November

Continue number recognition, shapes, colors and color names; Thanksgiving unit including preparation of our own Thanksgiving feast

December

Activities geared toward Christmas and Hanukkah

January

Unit on alphabet (letter recognition and beginning sounds); Chinese New Year & Martin Luther King holiday activities; unit on Winter

February

Continue alphabet unit; Ground Hog Day, Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ birthdays (Washington and Lincoln); Luau
